Maxi Paca & Semuc Champey! June 2025

On top of the service portion of our trips, we always try to fit in a bit of fun as well! On our last trip, we got to hit up some thrift stores in Guatemala, called Maxi Paca! Our favorites were the smaller stores- they had special deals while we were there where the clothing was only 1 or 2 Quetzales each - which is like 15 cents in American money. MIND BLOWING, RIGHT?! We hit up everyone we could. Thankfully we had a lot of empty suitcases for the flight back home. :)

We also had the amazing opportunity to hike the beautiful Semuc Champey! This gorgeous place is a pretty steep uphill hike, but it rewards you with a series of turquoise pools at the end of the hike back down.

It has some powerful water coursing through it, but you barely see it because of a natural limestone bridge that goes under the pools, but is what fills them with their famous, beautiful water. The hike is thankfully not too long, but for sure goes straight up, however, it really is worth it!
